- Emil Bergkvist est un ancien pilote de rallye et il était même l’un des plus prometteurs lorsqu’il remportait le titre de champion d’Europe Junior en 2015 puis de champion du Monde Junior trois années plus tard. C’est pourtant sur le siège de droite qu’il découvre le Dakar en 2021 dans un SSV Yamaha piloté par son compère et compatriote Mattias Ekstrom.
- Le Suédois de 30 ans a ensuite passé un cap en décrochant, toujours avec Ekstrom sa première étape une année plus tard dans une Audi hybride.
- Après trois Dakar dans une Audi, le copilote qui s’est parfaitement adapté aux affres du rallye-raid embarque dans l’aventure Ford, même si l’entame a été douloureuse. Lors de la dernière étape du Rallye du Maroc, l’équipage a subi un accident et Emil a dû être transporté à l’hôpital, fort heureusement sans conséquence. Il se sent prêt à attaquer son 5ème Dakar.
