  • Luciano first discovered the Dakar at the age of 13 when he went to watch the caravan pass through Fiambalá, in northern Argentina. His debut in the 2018 Dakar ended in retirement after a heavy fall on the Salta-Belen stage. In the 2019 Peruvian Dakar, Kevin's younger brother finished 9th, and in 2020 in Saudi Arabia, he achieved an impressive 6th place, marking the best performance by an Argentine rider. In 2021, a fall on stage 9 and a shoulder injury forced him to retire from the race. However, his brother Kevin's victory turned his personal disappointment into immense family joy.
  • 2023 remains to date his best sports season, with 6th place in the Dakar, three stage victories, and a brilliant finish in Morocco, where he won the World Championship with a 4-point lead over Toby Price.
  • The youngest of the Benavides brothers started 2024 with 7th place in the Dakar, a result that wasn’t satisfying after a difficult race due to an engine failure on stage six. In June, he participated in the Desafío Ruta 40, just days after Kevin's serious accident. Affected by his brother’s injuries, he crashed in a high-speed sector and fractured his hip. He was transferred to room 614 of the same clinic where Kevin was recovering from his injuries, in room 612...
  • The 2024 Morocco Rally allowed Luciano to return to competition after his injury. Now riding for KTM on a new bike, he says he did his best, but despite finishing on the podium, he feels he has not yet reached his best level.
