In the de Mévius clan, motor racing is a family affair. His father, Grégoire, and his brother, Ghislain, are also drivers. Grégoire de Mévius has no less than eight Dakar participations to his name. The young Belgian cut his teeth in rallying in Belgium before securing a drive with Citroën Racing in WRC2 for the 2019 season. Overdrive was founded by Jean-Marc Fortin and his father, so it was a natural step for him to embark on the rally-raid adventure. Following in his father's footsteps, Guillaume contested his first Dakar in 2022 with the Red Bull Off-Road Junior team, which was then equipped with OT3s, the lightweight prototypes developed by Overdrive Racing. His first participation ended with a retirement on stage 5, but after a stage victory on the second day. In the aftermath, the man from Namur took the helm of the OT3 project, renamed the GRally Team OT3, with a G for the initial of all the boys in the de Mévius family. With the double hat of manager and driver, Guillaume competed with François Cazalet in his second Dakar in the T3 category, sponsored by Nasser Al Attiyah himself. Leader of the category for two days before the halfway point, Guillaume dropped to 3rd place at the finish. He was obviously disappointed not to have retained the top spot, but satisfied to have finished the Dakar for the first time. At the end of 2023, after two seasons in T3, he made his entry into the big leagues. On the Rallye du Maroc, he contested his first W2RC event behind the wheel of an Overdrive Toyota Hilux T1+. Between the Top 5 and the Top 10 on four of the five days of the season finale, the man who will turn 30 in 2024 proved that he can be counted on for his first Dakar in Ultimate. Second in Saudi Arabia, the man from Namur made a sensational debut with the big guns, teaming up with Guerlain Chicherit with whom he shared the same colours. To everyone's surprise, the two new companions splt with X-raid Mini JCW on the Rallye du Maroc and are thinking big with their Mini for 2025: Guillaume is now teamed up with Mathieu Baumel, the navigator, two-time reigning world champion and four-time Dakar winner. In 2006, the Frenchman took part in his first Dakar with Guerlain Chicherit in a Mini from the X-raid team before taking his first victory with Nasser Al Attiyah in 2015, still under the same colours. For the most famous W2RC navigator, this is a return to his roots in the Quandt clan, 18 years after his first attempt and 9 years after his first success.
